The Chatham Terry Fox Run is at risk of cancellation this year if individuals do not come forward. “This Chatham event has been with us since the early 80’s,” praises Martha McClew, Ontario Provincial Director. “An astounding $267,838.60 has been raised at this location for innovative cancer research.”
The Terry Fox Foundation is seeking an enthusiastic individual to oversee the 2013 Chatham Terry Fox Run. The volunteer organizer must possess exceptional leadership qualities and have the ability to motivate and mobilize a volunteer team and their community. The Organizer’s responsibilities include: recruiting committee members; facilitating committee planning meetings; set and confirm the 2013 Chatham Terry Fox Run route; seek refreshment donations; promote the Run; and oversee Run day activities. The time commitment may range from two to four hours weekly during the months leading up to September 15th.

The 33rd Annual Terry Fox Run will take place this year on Sunday September 15, 2013. The Run, an all-inclusive, family-oriented activity, charges no entry fee or minimum pledge amount. Participants can run, walk, blade or bike, in the company of those who believe their efforts are making a difference. To date, the annual Terry Fox Run for cancer research has raised over $600 million, and has contributed to impressive and vital progress made in cancer research over the past three decades (for more information about Terry Fox funded research projects visit www.terryfox.org or www.tfri.ca).
Terry’s legacy continues to positively affect countless people and lead to breakthroughs not imaginable when Terry set out on his historic Marathon of Hope 33 years ago.

Become a volunteer for the Friends of the Cultural Centre!
We are currently looking for new volunteers who like to create, participate in, and help carry out new ideas designed to raise the profile and range of cultural activities carried out at the Cultural Centre.

What Would I Be Doing?

Planning, developing new ideas, coordinating and assisting with various fundraising and public awareness initiatives.

We’re looking for people who want to donate their time, skills, knowledge, abilities, talents and interests to contribute to their community and be a part of the ongoing development of The Cultural Centre (which includes the Chatham-Kent Museum, Thames Art Gallery, Kiwanis Theatre, Ridge House Museum, and Milner Heritage House, and ARTspace).

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering gives you the opportunity to join a growing network of dedicated, creative volunteers who share your interest in promoting the Cultural Centre, which enhances arts and heritage awareness in Chatham-Kent.

How Often Do the “Friends” Meet?

We meet approximately once at month at the William Street Cafe, where we have a coffee (and maybe a butter tart) and share our ideas. Currently, we are planning a 50th Anniversary Celebration for the Cultural Centre in 2014. If you are interested in helping with this event, become a Friend of the Cultural Centre!

For more information, contact:
